Essence is stored in the Kidney, and Blood in the Liver. Essence and Blood can transform into each other. Abundant Essence in the Kidney insures abundant Blood for the Liver; abundant Blood generates more Essence for the Kidney. TCM says, “Essence and Blood have a common source.”
