ACTION
- Warms the middle jiao to increase appetite
For stomach-cold syndrome with abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and anorexia. - Warms the middle jiao and lowers the adverse rising energy
For stomach-cold syndrome with vomiting, hiccup, poor appetite and loose stool. - Treats diarrhoea due to stomach cold
- Eliminates phlegm
For deficiency-cold of lung and spleen with cough and thin expectoration; also for epilepsy.
Usage and Dosage
2-4 g is used in decoction for oral use.
0.6-1.5 g is used in powder orally.
The powder and decoction can be used externally.
Note
Contraindicated in the patient with hyperactivity of fire due to yin-deficiency and sthenic heat syndrome.
Storage
Keep in a cool and dry place.
Description of Quality Herb
The good Black Pepper is big and full-grained, black in colour with wrinkled skin and a strong flavour.
The good White Pepper is big and compact, white or greyish white in colour with a strong flavour.
