ACTION
- Promotes diuresis and relieves stranguria
For stranguria caused by urinary stone related to heat. - Treats amenorrhea or irregular menstruation caused by blood stasis
- Clears away heat-dampness
For dysentery and jaundice related to damp-heat. - Cools the blood and stops bleeding
For hematuria and metrorrhagia. - Alleviates itching
External use for eczema, trichomonas vaginitis, pruritus valvae.
Usage and Dosage
9–15 g is used in decoction for oral use.
The powder and decoction can be used externally.
Storage
Keep in a ventilated and dry place.
Note
Not to be used in pregnant women or the weak elderly.

Differences of Qumai and Shizhu [Dianthus chinensis): The calyx of Qumai is tubular, 2.7-3.7 cm long, the bracts of Qumai are about 1/4 in length of the calyx tube, and the petals are deeply laciniate or jagged at the apex. The calyx tubes of Shizhu are 1–2 cm long, the bracts of Shizhu are about 1/2 in length of their calyx tube and the petals are shallowly toothed at the apex.
