Usage and Dosage
3–10 g is used in decoction for oral use.
1–1.5 g of the powder is used orally.
Up to 3–10 g is used for excessive bleeding.
Powder can be applied for external use.
Storage
Keep in a dry place. Protect from mould.
Description of Quality Herb
The good one is stout and round in shape, heavy and compact, with smooth surface, greyish-green or yellowish-green broken surface. It has a strong bitter then sweet flavour.
Professional Tip
Common fakes are prepared Ezhu (Rhizoma Curcumae), with annulated nodes and rootlet scars on its surface. No radial texture on the broken surface.

Identifying Ju Sanqi (Gynura segetum (Lour.) Merr.):
Also called Tu Sanqi. Fist-like, with greyish-brown or brownish-yellow surface, often purplish when it is fresh, with wart-like protuberances. Cross section is pale yellow with piths.
