ACTION
- Activates and tonifies blood
An important herb to treat gynaecological disorders, including dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea and irregular menses due to blood stasis or deficiency of blood. - Clearing the channels and relaxes the tendons
For numbness, arthralgia, musculoskeletal pain, lower back pain, knee pain, or joint soreness from wind-damp due to blood deficiency or stasis.
Treats paralysis or vertigo due to blood stasis or wind-stroke.
Usage and Dosage
10-15 g is used in decoction for oral use and large amount of 30 g may be used.
It can be soaked in wine or decocted into a paste.
Note
Used with caution in cases of heavy menstruation.
Storage
Keep in a dry and well-ventilated place. Protect from mould and moths.
Professional Tips
The sources of the herb are more complex and the users differ in various locations. The main types include:
- Vines of Caulis Spatholobi (Millletia dielsiana Harms ex Diels). About ¼ radius of the broken surface, black brown resin-like oil secretes from the concentric circle.
- Vines of Caulis Mucunae (M. sempervirens Hemsl). The sliced surface is brown in colour and the wooden portion is also brown in colour, forming 4-6 alternative concentric circles.
