Source Spreading Hedyotis Herb is the herb of Hedyotis diffusa Willd. Roxb. (Fam. Rubiaceae).
Producing Areas Fujian, Guangdong, Guanxi, Yunnan, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang, etc.

Action
- Clears heat, dries dampness, and strongly neutralises fire toxins
For intestinal abscesses, cancer of the gastrointestinal tract, esophagus or stomach, reduces jaundice, treats acute appendicitis, or toxic sores and ulcerations. Also used for snake bites.

- For hot and painful urinary tract infections.
Usage and Dosage
15 – 60g is decocted for oral use. Suitable amount is used externally.
Notes Contraindicated for patients with phlegm of yin type, with asthenic cold of the spleen and stomach.

Keep in a dry, ventilated place.

The good one should be integrated with the stem and leaves, greyish green in colour, with fruit and without impurities.

Fakes
Hedyotis corymbose (Linn.) Lam (Sanfanghuaercao): The umbel is formed by 2-5 flowers and fruits. Its pedicels are longer.
Hedyotis tenelliflore Blume (Xianhuaer): The stem has four ridges. Its leaves are longer. 2 – 3 flowers and fruits grow from the stipule, without pedicels.
