Source Bletilla Rhizome is the dried tuber of Bletilla striata (Thunb.) Reichb. f., (Fam. Orchldaceae.
Producing Areas Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan and Shaanx.
Properties Bitter, Sweet, Astringent, Slightly col.
Channels Lung, Liver, Stomac.
ACTION
- Stops and retards bleeding
Usually used to stop bleeding from the stomach and lungs, and for trauma. - Removes the necrotic tissues and promotes granulation
Treats pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, peptic ulcer, skin ulcer, anal fissure, chapped skin of hands and feet, burns and fistula (external use as well. - Antiphlogistic effects
For pyogenic infection and ulcerous diseases of the skin.
Usage and Dosage
Used as a crude herb.
1.5-3 g is used in decoction for oral use.
The powder and the freshly pounded can be used for external application.
Notes
It is incompatible with Rhizoma Aaconiti.
Used with caution for those suffering from exopathic hemoptysis.
Storage
Keep in a dry and well-ventilated place.
Protect from mould and moths.

The good one is big and full in shape, white in colour, translucent and firm.
