Action
- Cools the blood, promotes blood circulation and stops bleeding
External use for bleeding caused by trauma, and after tooth extraction. - Removes blood stasis and relieves pain
Relieves traumatic pain, amenia, menalgia, postpartum retention of lochia, pain in the chest and hypochondria. - Relieves cough and eliminates sputum
- Treats traumatic injuries
May be used with Frankincense, Chinese Angelica (Danggui), Safflower etc.
Usage and Dosage
The stir-baked with vinegar, or the carbonised one, is for stopping bleeding.
The crude or the stir-baked with wine is for promoting blood circulation, and dredging the channels.
5–10 g is used in decoction for oral use.
Notes
Used with caution in the case with deficiency and cold in the spleen and stomach, without blood stasis.

Keep in a dry place.

The good one is stout, reddish-brown on the surface and reddish-yellow on the, without the stem base and mud.
