ACTION
- Cools the blood and stops bleeding
Removes heat in the blood, and stops bleeding related to hemoptysis, epistaxis, or hematemesis. - Clears heat and promotes urination
Treats painful and hot urination, urinary difficulty (can be used alone for this purpose), edema and damp-heat jaundice. - Clears heat from the lungs and stomach
Treats symptoms of stomach and lung heat such as irritability, nausea, vomiting, thirst, coughing and wheezing.
Usage and Dosage
The crude is for clearing away heat and promoting diuresis, relieving edema and treating jaundice.
The carbonised is for stopping bleeding.
10–30 g is used in decoction for oral use. The fresh should be doubled in dose and pounded to extract a juice for oral use.
Storage
Keep in a dry place.
Protect from mould and moths.
Description of Quality Herb
The good one is yellowish-white in colour, tough, and slightly sweet in flavour.
