Source Sweet Wormwood Herb is the dried aerial part of Artemisia annua L. (Fam. Compositae).

Action
- Prevents recurrence of malaria
For various types of malaria, especially malignant malaria and those resistant to chloroquine. - Lowers asthenic fever
For the late stage of seasonal febrile diseases when the heat enters yingfen manifested as night fever, defervescence without sweating, continuous low fever or hectic fever due to yin deficiency. - Clears away heat and summer heat
For summer heat syndrome manifested as fever without sweating. Eliminates phlegm, relieves cough and dyspnoea.
Usage and Dosage
3 – 10g is decocted for oral use. 20 – 40g is used for treating malaria or up to twice when using the fresh herbs. It is not suitable for long decocting.
Notes Use with caution in the patient with diarrhoea due to deficiency of the spleen and stomach.

Keep in a cool, dry place. Protect from dust.

The good one is green in colour, strongly fragrant, with many leaves.

Xiehao, A.apiacea Hance, from the same family, plant named Qinghao, is 2-pinnatipartite, with big capitulum, 5mm in diameter. This medicinal material does not contain Qinghaosu.
